Yes, we ‘ve been offline for a while (broken down stupid computers!!!, colds and flus, family & work commitments, network and server issues), all the curve balls life throws at you!!!! The good news is we’re back (new computer – oh so lovely, faster and fired up to go, time to make art, lots of lovely new gear to play with and share with you, clean bill of health and we take a sigh of relief!!!) So we thought we would make up for lost time and give you lots to drool over with a MEGA post. So grab a cuppa and scroll through……..you’ll see what we’ve been up to! Good to be back, see you tomorrow! Hugs, the girls from Destination Art
Starting off with a lovely little twinchie!! The background is Appletini 10 Seconds Studios metal dry embossed over one of their delicious molds (kabuka no.3). Once the metal has been dry embossed, a scuffer has been used over the top to add highlight. The strip of metal down the right hand side is Pearl. Humungo adhesive which is part of the 10 Seconds Studios range is the stickiest of adhesives you will find on the market. It comes in a flat sheet and you just cut to size, it is the best type of adhesive to stick metal to metal. The lovely little bird was cut from a Nestabilities Die (nested birds) and was treated with both vergidris and rust solutions for that lovely aged look.
Do these butterflys look familar??? For anyone who has ever purchased the Collections Chipboard Micro Butterflies, they might. After popping out the butterflies from the sheet, this is the negative space that is left!! Perfect for using on ATC’s and this is exactly what we have done. On kraft cardstock we have stamped a Tim Holtz background image with Archival Jet Black Ink, treated the butterfly sheet with a good dose of Turquoise Glimmermist and attached together. Then the two layers have been run through one of the new lovely Tim Holtz Texture Fade embossing folders (Gridlock). We then attached the embossed butterfly layer to 2 other backgrounds to make the whole ATC.
COUNTRY ROAD TAKE ME HOME – We can hear Olivia Newton John loud and clear…hehe!! This 7 x 5 inch canvas showcases the new Artistic Outpost unmounted stamps. The background was achieved with various Tim Holtz Distress Inks. Dymo labelers are such fun to add to projects now and then and this one was perfect. For a faux shellac look that we applied to the windmill, try this: Distress Ink your background and stamp your image with Archival Ink. Cover with Versa Mark Ink and a light coat of clear embossing powder. Instead of heating the embossing powder on the top of the image, use your heat underneath so the paper absorbs most of the embossing powder. The stamp sets we used were:
OUTPOST

and HOME for the truck

And next a beautiful butterfly tag tutorial for you, hope you enjoy it!!
Step 1: Cover a large tag with background writing paper or dictionary paper and re-punch the hole at the top.

Cut an ATC sized piece of kraft cardstock (2.5 x 3.5 inches) and corner round the edges.

Ink edges of both pieces with Distress Ink Walnut Stain and a blending tool.

Apply one coat of Paint Dabber in Snow White over a Collections Monarch Chipboard Butterfly and set aside to dry.

Stamp the bird row from Artistic Outpost Bluebird set on the bottom of the ATC sized card and the numbers from the Artistic Outpost Generation Redux set on the top.

Use Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass to stamp a floral image top right and bottom left hand sides of your tag and over the top of the chipboard butterfly.

Apply a thick coat of Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy over the top of the butterfly and set aside to dry.

Attach an end piece of vintage tape to the ATC card with Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. If you haven’t got something like this just lying around you can adapt by using a printed ribbon looped through a buckle or keyring. Tim Holtz’s printed ruler ribbon would look great for this!!!

Attach the ATC sized card to the tag with double sided tape.

Attach the chipboard butterfly to the middle of the layers with double sided tape.

Thread co-ordinating ribbon through the top and bottom, adding a vintage key through the tape measure buckle and you’re finished!!!!!

And last but not least, another little Twinchie offering, the base is of course 10 Seconds Studios metal in Pearl dry embossed over one of their molds ( Big Mamma 5) and scuffed over the top. Then we stamped with Archival Ink on a piece of transparency using Darkroom Door Home Sweet Home unmounted set & finished off with a metal embellishment.
