It might seem strange but one of things we collect to use in our artwork is tags. We find these all over the place but tags especially from clothes these days come in all shapes and sizes, thickness and mediums. Over time, we have come across tags thick and thin made from cloth, plastics, paper & more. Many have appeared with their own delicious grommets, eyelets, pins and string, ready for attaching. Some are just too beautiful to use, others are too bland and need altering before using. Considering the collection now involves friends and family saving their tags, the humble stash that once lived in a plastic file sleeve now has it’s own TUB. Of course, the best part is that we see them as a bonus to the item we are buying!! Does that classify them as free???? hehe! Are you thinking we’re nuts…probably. Are we having fun? …….definately. What’s your collectable art supply fetish that doesn’t cost you anything?? Leave us a comment!

Hello and my name is Jackie and I to am a “tagaholic”. I to have a drawer full of tags, I sometimes don’t even worry about the item of clothing they were once attatched to. Their shiny, they have texture, they have lovely little bits hanging off them, sometimes they even have a cute little pocket with a button or two. aahhh.
Hmmmmmmmm……..we can see you now Jackie at Target, standing at the clearance rack, not shopping for clothes BUT tags!!!! We thought we were in deep! Jackie, you may need to seek professional help!! Hehe!!!! We love it!!
Professional help is right! It’s a disease…
Apart from all sorts of packaging containers to upcycle for storage (including newly discovered, square-sided glass herb jars – perfect for beads, glitter, flower soft, charms), some of my favourites are pretty paper shopping bags to turn into envelopes with one of my own templates, and decorated tissue cube boxes (cut into squares to use as mats for cards).
My current craze is saving all the hard shell plastic packaging with smallish shapes to use in plaster and fimo pendant jewellry making.
Now, where to put it all.
Have to start saving washing powder tablet cartons……….
