This is going to be a rather long post as we have lots of info about the amazing range of VIVA paints that we are now stocking. The other day we showed you this sneek peek of a project:

Here’s the whole deal:

It’s a front door house plaque, cool hey? The metal started off as black can you believe it? It was dry embossed with a 10 seconds studio kabuka mold (no 2) and then hand detailed with doodles inbetween the vine leaves for interest. Having the doodles also gave us more texture when we sanded the metal and added the Viva Precious Metal paints at the end (these paints are silky smooth and luxuriously & intensly metallic). A little of these paints goes a long way. The great texture effect down the left hand side of the door plaque and under the “16″ was achieved using firstly a layer of Viva Terra paint (Sahara), this is very much like a chalky texture paste. On top of the Terra paint a layer of Viva Ferro paint (you can stamp into this range when wet. Use a stamp with no ink but a squirt of water on the rubber for best results) was added and allowed to dry before highlights of Viva Precious Metal paints in copper and turquoise were used to make the beautiful finish. In places (like on the numbers), the paint was applied, dried then sanded a little.

You might remember Terra and Ferro paints from our link to our friend Lin’s blog http://yoursartfully.blogspot.com/2010/01/snow-alert-and-metal-utee-fab.html where she showed you this terrific project:

Darkroom Door is the wholesaler for the Viva range in Australia, from their website you can find the following info:

colour chart: http://shop.darkroomdoor.com/catalogue/c58/c60 - Precious Metal paint, our price $10.50 ea

colour chart: http://shop.darkroomdoor.com/catalogue/c58/c62 - Terra paint, our price $11.50 ea

colour chart: http://shop.darkroomdoor.com/catalogue/c58/c59 - Ferro paint, our price $12.50 ea

If you have been waiting for these paints (we know of a few of you!!), please don’t hesitate on emailing us at tedep@westnet.com.au .We will be bringing you more VIVA paint project ideas soon! Hugs, the girls @Destination Art!

We thought you might be interested as Father’s Day is nearly here. You could of course adapt the folding to patterned fabric or paper which could be used then on a card, an album cover or canvas even. There would be endless possibilities for embellishing the shirt too! Totally fun project if you have young kids!! Very cool idea!! Would love to hear if you do end up using this pattern and how? Hugs, the girls @ Destination Art.

This special birthday wish card for a 21st was made with a piece of kraft cardstock embossed through Tim Holtz woodgrain Texture Fade with vintage photo Distress Ink added to the front. You might also be able to pick that the card opens with a special looking edge. It was cut with plaque and postage Tim Holtz Alterations Die. The “21″ numbers are from Tim Holtz cardstock Salvage Stickers, added to a piece of chipboard to give it some height (ink stained around the edges too). The july calendar is from Jenny Bowlin Studios, these are very sweet and come in a pack with every month of the year. For this card we have used a black artline to place a circle around the date. A “wish” Adage Ticket added to a Memo Pin (both from Tim H). Then we finished off with one of our new luscious charms as a door plate and Tim H hitch fastener as a knob.

Wow!! this is one talented lady. Rach also has a blog which is full of ideas and musing such as the artwork shown at the top of this blog posting, you can check it all out at http://www.creativeflight.blogspot.com/. Enjoy, the girls from Destination Art!

We didn’t even have time to upload these 3 new 10 Seconds Studio Metal molds on the blog before they SOLD OUT on Saturday at our VINTAGE FOUNDATION BOX workshop. Never fear, we have more on the way, should arrive within 7-10 days. If you would like us to save you any, please email us at tedep@westnet.com.au . They retail for $19.95 each which is great value.

Here is a little something made with the new “Dressform” mold and of course 10 Seconds Studio metal (peackcock). The acrylic flowers down the side were made from the Tim Holtz “Tattered Floral” die cut out of discarded packaging. The petals were cut then coloured with Alcohol Inks and dry embossed with Tim Holtz Texture Fade plates. A small amount of highlighting was achieved by swiping Archival Ink in Jet Black across the dry embossing.

Here are the name tags that were made for the girls attending the workshop. The bird die is from Tim Holtz Alterations Line, given a light spray with Midnight Blue and Irredescent Gold glimmermist. A piece of 10 seconds studio metal embossed with new release molds sits behind the names on the tags. Agean Blue is the name of the Versamagic Ink used around the edges of the corner rounded tags.

Is there a chance that you’ve had time to have a play today or be inspired creatively? Hope so! That’s what we’ve been doing! Of course, other days our mojo volume is down or we find it hard to make the time. What we love about our workshops is that the mojo volume is always turned right up and everyone has made the time commitment to be there and attend. It’s always great to be in the company of others, ready to create (even if for some, it is as scary as bungy jumping!!).

So don’t forget this is the last week to book before our next workshop, “Vintage Foundation Book” to be held this Saturday 14th August at the Lower Kalgan Hall here in Albany. It’s a wonderful 3.5 hour workshop playing with 10 Seconds Studios Metals. You will make a beautiful book from 6×4″ canvases covered in embossed metal with a lace spine and closure, with cardstock pages inside. The front cover is delicately embellished with a microscope slide with a vintage image (or you can bring your own photo or add it at home as the slide opens easily), finishing off with some lovely beads and 4 wonderful Tim Holtz “Foundation” feet to complete your project. As always there will be time to shop, the workshop will run from 12.30-4pm. The cost is just $55, all materials supplied. To book your place, just email us at tedep@westnet.com.au . We hope you can join us for this very special workshop. Hugs, the girls @ Destination Art!
