Hello everyone! Today’s blog card features dies from Tim Holtz’s Alterations range. This is how we made it (all product links at listed at the end of this blog post): First we took a scrap piece of white card and coloured it with Adirondack color wash in Butterscotch. We let it dry then used the credit card technique to apply a thin layer of white  gesso over the top.

We tore it down one side then die cut it with Tim Holtz Alterations die ”Moments”. We covered a  piece of card board with Tim Holtz tissue tape and die cut the bodice from  Tim Holtz Alterations die ”Sewing Room”.

The bodice was given a light coat of gesso then stamped on with Archival Ink “Sepia” with Tim’s flourish stamp from his “Mini Ornates” set before tying some ribbon and adding a Trinket Pin. We then cut a second complete mannequin in cardboard and a few buttons, we coloured all parts of the mannequin with Distress Stain “Walnut Stain” then attached the 1st tissue taped bodice onto the 2nd mannequin die cut.

The buttons were given a light coat of gesso also and coloured with Distress Stain “Wild Honey”, stamped on then thread tied through button holes to finish. All the pieces were then assembled onto a black card front embossed with Tim Holtz texture fade “Checkerboard and Cracked” .  Hope you like it! Have a great day, Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art!

Hi all, welcome to May already!! Today we are playing along with the challenge on the Paper Play Challenges Blog, the theme is Monochromatic and Ribbon.  Our entry is a striking red card with different colouring techniques on the main elements. You can find all the quick links to the products we used at the end of this post. The card is A5 in size to which we added a white panel and stamped with doily images around the edges from the luscious My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found 2 Stamps “Everything” using Distress Inks in Barn Door and Fired Brick.  LOVE their range of clear stamps, each set has many images and they are only $8.95 each, you can find the full range along with their beautiful 6″x6″ paper pads for the same low price on our website HERE!

You can see the ribbon we used in the background of the main elements, keeping in line with the challenge outline.  The red heart is from Collections Elements Chipboard range. We first coloured it with Viva Inka Gold paint in Lava Red and then embossed through Tim Holtz Texture Fade – Checkerboard. SERIOUSLY… we applied the paint with a fingertip and it was dry and ready to emboss within less than a minute…..AWESOME!

For the centre flower we recoloured our own range of Gardenia Flowers in white with Starfish Glimmermist. These flowers just SOAK up the colour  and look fantastic!!! The glimmermist gave great coverage on the petals, the leaves and the stamens!! Oh la la!!

Our last colouring was of the gorgeous and sweet little new Scrolls just released from Dusty Attic.  We achieved a great glossy finish by swiping them with a Versacolor Pigment Ink CUBE in Burgundy and then giving them just one coat of clear embossing powder.  The cubes are the handiest ink pads, come in a great range of colours and are sooo cheap!! You can use them for small and big projects alike!

This is an excerpt from the Australian Army Government website and sums up today’s commemorations better than either of us could put into words:

Today marks the anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC’s).

We pause today to acknowledge all current and former members of our defence forces – the brave men and women who represent our country on a daily basis.

We all need to be reminded that happiness has a price. For surely if happiness is the product of freedom, then freedom is the reward of courage. We should be grateful to those that have helped preserve our nation and way of life through their sacrifice. In doing so, we keep bright the memory of those lives. It is in the remembrance of these things that communities across the nation come together on this day.

LEST WE FORGET

This quick and easy card was made by using the MFT (My Favorite Things) dies and stamps.  For the gorgeous rolled flowers we used their Retro Flower Die, these are SOOO easy to make and look fantastic when rolled.  There are a few rolled flower designs in the MFT range in different shapes and sizes. We also used their awesome Jumbo Monarch border die with some Kaisercraft bling added.  Sorry the lighting wasn’t great when we took the photo but the complete embossed stamp saying from the Textile Rectangle Die & Stamp Set reads  ”with you by my side anything is possible”. All the paper that we used for the card was from My Minds Eye “Vanity Fair”.  The blue paper was embossed using Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder, Elite.
