Before we get to todays card entry for the CR8FN blog challenge (which we were humbled to get a top 3 mention last week with our JOURNEY card), we just wanted to remind locals and visitors alike that we are running our next workshop THIS coming Saturday. There are still places left so why not grab a friend or two and come along for some great fun, shopping and companionship with some other creative girls!
VICTORIAN BEAUTY CARDS
Come along to this bevy of 4 beautiful cards using the popular Madame Boutique range from Kaisercraft with great embellishment ideas (click on the picture for a larger view!) To be held on January 28th from 10am to 1pm. ALL materials & tools supplied, 10% shopping discount on the day. ONLY $29.50
The colour challenge over at the CR8FN blog this week was lovely to play with – Light Pink, Yellow and Neutral (see the inspiration photo above). Once the original idea was given some thought, it was a relatively quick card to make. A great one to replicate, maybe in different colours too. Anyway, with it being so easy, it would be a good one to keep in mind when you need a speedy card. It will definitely be going on our short list of quick cards!
Our card was made with the wonderful Sizzix Birds Die and the Tim Holtz Caged Bird die. The birds once cut were over stamped with Hero Arts stamp Line Dots with Distress Inks in Mustard Seed and Spun Sugar, adding colour with the ink pads randomly onto the birds.
The birdcage background paper was stuck to card stock with Claudine Hellmuth Matte Medium before cutting to give it strength. White Icing Sugar CANDI was coloured with the same ink pads and added to the card front.
The cute little words are Authentique Diction Mini Word Stickers – Blissful.
Have an awesome and creative day, Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art!

Well our girls in Saturday’s workshop really enjoyed themselves making the trio of 3 easel cards. Here is another one we’ve made. The concept has been around for a while, we’ve seen many over the years. Here’s how we make ours….
Take a folded black A5 card and score horizontally along the middle of the card front to make a mountain fold. Open your card out and apply double sided tape in the lower scored section (left hand side) of the card and attach a 10.5cm x 15cm piece of same black card making sure all your edges line up. We’ve used the beautiful Hero Arts stamp Timely Bird and the gorgeous Prima Avon Rose mini Printery flowers..yum yum! plus trim from our own Destination Art line and a micro chipboard butterfly from Collections Elements.
Here’s a side view:
And a close up:

This weeks randomly picked winner from our blog post comments is TheresaMP!! Congratulations, we’ll be emailing your voucher to you shortly!

This Birthday tag was made using papers from the Kaisercraft Madam Boutique 6 1/2″ paper pack.
First paper was stuck onto cardboard before die cutting with Tim Holtz’s Tag and Book Plate die, the tag was then embossed with Texture Fade Pattern & Stitches and highlighted with Distress Ink Walnut Stain. The leaves are cut from Tim’s Tattered Leaves Bigz Die! Nice and bright and lots of fun! Have a great day, Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art

For those lucky girls that are local you will get to make a set of cards similar to this in our workshop this COMING SATURDAY using the easel card technique, see the details HERE. All the patterned papers used to make this card are from Kaisercraft Paper Pad December 25th, this pad has some lovely patterned papers that can be used for any project, don’t think it’s just for Christmas and even better news is that right now you can get this awesome 6″ x 5″ paper pad for 40% off at the Destination Art website in our Christmas stock sell out!

Tim Holtz dies are featured once again, (we do love what the man creates for us to play with) we used “Regal Crest”, “Vintage Cabinet Card”, “Mini Jalopy & Arrow” & “Mini Flourish” dies.

The paper was stuck onto cardboard before being die cut to give it strength. A great way to do this is to use an adhesive such as Claudine Hellmuth’s Matte Medium on the cardboard, stick down the paper then run it through your die cut/embossing machine with just the flat plates. This squashes any air bubbles and leaves you with a flat and crisp piece to work with.
The Crest and Banner were coloured with distress ink “Walnut Stain”. “Happy Birthday” is from WOW chipboard range and coloured with Adirondack paint dabber “Hazelnut”.
All these product can be found on the Destination Art web site using the underlined links above.

Hi all, well it’s the weekend again and that means PLAY TIME! Yippee. Put aside that pile of washing and swap it for some crafting we say! Today we have a card using negative die cutting which is our entry in the Case Study Challenge blog and also our entry in the CR84FN challenge using the colours in the below inspiration photo of Med. Blue, Yellow and Orange.
We used the largest die from the Spellbinders Labels 22 set to cut the frame and then into that frame we cut a circle from Spellbinders Eyelet Circles in the middle. The blue spotted paper is from the lovely Prima A4 paper pad “Alla” and to add depth to the frame we inked with Distress ink in Wild Honey after embossing both the frame and the yellow background cardstock with Tim Holtz embossing folder, Dot Matrix.
The cutest ever car die cut is the Tim Holtz Mini Jalopy which also has the little arrow on the same die that we have used on the card too. Some white shipping tags were coloured with Wild Honey distress ink and stamped with VersaColor Paprika using sayings from Kaisercraft Life Sentiments clear stamps. The background music and post card stamped images are from the delectable Artistic Outpost Ephemeral Background unmounted red rubber stamp plate.
The Journey chipboard word is from 2 Crafty, it’s actually 2 words together “life’s & journey” but we cut the saying in half – the rest we’ll use on another project. We have linked all the products used so if you click on any of the above underlined words, you will be taken to the Destination Art website.
We hope this card gives you some inspiration to create this weekend & PLEASE leave us a comment anytime if you like our blog creations!, we LOVE LOVE hearing from you all! Have a jolly inky time – Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art

Our gorgeous friend Nancie who has been over in South Africa visiting family for Christmas LOVES purple, so today’s post is dedicated to her. Hope you love it Nancie. This card is our entry in the Simply Less is More blog challenge, a colour twist of using only “Predominantly Purple”. It’s always fun to make monochromatic cards.
We love looking at all our supplies and fishing out all the hues of the same colour family. It’s really amazing when you take into consideration cardstock, embellishments, ribbons etc AND when you add all the colouring mediums you probably have on hand and start playing you can finish up with endless possibilities as we’ll share with you about today’s card. Of course if you’re not into purple just image the same card in black, blue, red, green, orange……….wish there had been more hours in the day today to make one of each colour!!!
Of course the base card colour choice was a no brainer! To that we cut a wide banner strip as our main focus and stamped Hero Art image “Old Letter” onto it with Distress Ink in “Dusty Concord”. This stamp is brilliant as a background and can be used repeatedly to cover a large area. Next the “Good Friend” saying from Darkroom Door ‘Enjoy Life” set was stamped with Black Versafine onto a panel of white cardstock.
We then went around both white pieces with the Dusty Concord Ink Distress Ink Pad using a Foam Blending Tool, the EASY PEASY way to add colour!

We chose a large chipboard Monarch butterfly from Collections Elements and coloured the surface with the creamy luscious Viva Inka-Gold paint in Violet. To do this we used a damp paint brush dipped into the jar just to make it a little easier to spread over the surface. Drying time is about 2 minutes (no lie!) and then we placed the butterfly in Tim Holtz embossing folder “Postal”.

Adding a little bit of Paint Dabber in “Snow Cap White” with our finger over the embossed area just emphasised and highlighted those lovely deep raised areas from the embossing folder……YUM YUM YUMMO!!!! The other butterfly we used was from Prima and is one of their gorgeous canvas resist pieces, this one from their “Printery Collection”. There are 37 pieces in a pack of wonderful designs and all you need to do is add a colouring agent over the canvas and the resist part will pop out! We used Adirondack Color Wash in “Purple Twilight” straight from the bottle and painted it on the canvas with a paintbrush but you could also stick with spraying it out of the bottle too!

Lastly we coloured 3 white (icing sugar) CANDI legless brads with Dusty Concord Distress ink and then attached them to the bottom of the Darkroom Door friend sentiment and added some Kaisercraft rhinestones on top of them and along the spine of the butterfly!
Hope you have a great great day, Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art!

Todays blog post is our entry into some very FINE blog challenges. In no particular order & all equally as fabulous as each other, here they are: Case Study Challenge which is based on a design by their guest muse, PaperPlay Challenge – this week in Happy New Year but you can use it to make a new house, new job etc creation and the Play Date Cafe which has a lovely colour scheme to follow (their inspirational photo is below! yum yum!)
Our card creation features some great stuff including the new Prima A4 Paper Pad background papers (Alla), the cutie pie house stamp from Paperbag Studios and word stamp from the new gorgeous Artistic Outpost plate – Typography , Chipboard hearts and keys from Collections Elements, print flat elements from Kaisercraft Madame Boutique range & new Prima chipboard stickers (butterfly), Kaisercraft pearls and resin blossoms, our own unique range of Destination Art trims and lovely sweet little sticker sentiments from Authentique. Click on any of the above links to take you straight to that item on our wonderful Destination Art website!
Here is a shot of the scrummy Prima A4 paper pads used, the top piece shows the background paper after it had been treated to a light coat of white paint to tone down the vibrancy.
Along the top of the card where the white appears (about a 5th of the total card) we applied Distress Ink in Bundled Sage then added water drops for a vintage mottled effect.
The house image was stamped with and the Collections heart was first lightly painted with white paint then again lightly with Adirondack Paint Dabber in Lettuce.
These little words from Authentique are so gorgeous! And the resin blooms from Kaisercraft……….mmmmmm

Do you have lots of Tim Holtz Dies? We all know that they cut out beautiful die images to use on our projects and many of you will know that you can cut them with foam to make your own stamps BUT did you stop to think that you could also use these wonderful dies as stencils too?! See the love hearts in the background on the tag above? They were made with the Tim Holtz Mini Hearts Die and it was extremely simple to achieve. All you need to do is run your die through your machine with a piece of card stock. For the best results position your die in the middle of your machine and use card stock at least half an A4 sheet in size (A5). The reason we suggest this is because if you use spray products through the stencils such as glimmer mist which is what we used in the above tag, you will want to have some space around the die cut area that catches the excess colour.
We coloured the tag entirely in Wild Honey distress ink and coloured around the edges with Fired Brick. The stencilling came next. Using card stock means that after you have used the stencil even with spray colours you can use it over and over when it has dried out. So place you stencil over the desired position and use your favourite colouring medium, then just move the stencil and repeat. After we finished stencilling we flicked drops of water over the tag to achieve that lovely mottled effect. We then added the sentiment from Tim Holtz stamp set Good Thoughts with Jet Black Archival Ink. A bit of bling and trim from the Destination Art charms and trims collection was added to finish. Just another wonderful way to get more bang for your buck! Enjoy your day, Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art
Todays card is a quick creation using a set of the wonderful unmounted stamps from Darkroom Door and Shrinky Dinks (shrink plastic).
The DD set used is ENJOY LIFE and we have made gear embellishments with Shrinky Dinks in Almond, White and Brown out of Tim Holtz’s die, Gadget Gears. So much fun to do!
Step 1. Stamp the “Enjoy Life” sentiment and the “bicycle” from the DD stamp set with Archival Ink ink in Jet Black onto white cardstock and cut around.
Step 2. Mount the bicycle image onto a piece of black cardstock 9cm x 14cm in the position shown in the photo. Mount the black cardstock onto a folded kraft coloured card 10.5cm x 14cm. Use pop dots to affix the sentiment on the top of the layers.
Step 3. From the Gadget Gears die, cut 3 large gears from Shrinky Dinks (Shrink Plastic) in white, almond and brown. Stamp a text stamp with archival ink onto the cream and white gears.
Step 4. Here’s the fun bit! You can either follow the instructions included with the Shrinky Dinks to shrink in your oven or you can simply use a heat gun and watch before your eyes as the plastic shrivels into thick little embellishment 9 times thicker and a 3rd of the original size!
Shrinky Dinks comes in White, Clear, Almond, Black and Brown so there are endless possibilities for use with different colouring medium. Darker colours look great with white or metallic inkpads used over the top. If you want to make hanging mini embellishments, just punch a normal sized hole before shrinking and then you can use jump rings etc with them!! Use them with punches, dies of all shapes and sizes or stamp images onto the surface and cut around. Why not make your own jewellery, keychains, magnets, buttons…………the list goes on! Have fun shrinking, hugs from Lisa and Elaine @ Destination Art
